Lawrence Taylor Declared Low-Risk Sex Offender

Former pro football star Lawrence Taylor, who pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute, was declared a low-risk sex offender on Tuesday.

Prosecutors argued for a level 2 designation. Instead, the judge chose the lower Level 1, which means a photo of the former New York Giants linebacker will not be posted on the online sex-offender registry.

Rockland County Court Judge William Kelly said Taylor's crime was already well-known.

"The difference between Level 1 and 2 is almost minuscule because of the notification that has already gone out to the world," said Kelly, who added that Taylor "would be awfully foolish to go out and do this again."

The NFL Hall of Fame member did not attend the hearing.

The girl was 16 – under the age of consent – when she met Taylor. He said she claimed she was 19.

Last month, the teenager made a surprise appearance at Taylor's sentencing, eager to declare that he should be behind bars, but she was denied the chance to speak in court.

Speaking outside court, she denied she was a prostitute, and she said Taylor should have been able to tell she had been beaten and that she was underage.

Taylor was sentenced to six years' probation, as agreed when he pleaded guilty in January.

Lineman Dan Connolly Runs

Anyone who saw the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants today knows two things:
First, that Matt Dodge is the Giants' Punter and he is the most googled punter on the planet right now. And second DeSean Jackson is arguably the most dangerous guy in the NFL. But he only keeps shocking and surprising anyone who is silly enough to kick the ball to him on punt returns. So yes, DeSean Jackson is one of the most dangerous return men in the league. But is he the most exciting return man in the NFL?
In the words of Lee Corso, I say not so fast, my friend. We have another return man who might take the title.

This update was going to be about Matt Flynn, but New England Patriots OL Dan Connolly, a 313-pound full-blown offensive lineman, just ran back a kickoff 71 yards. The Packers tried a squib kick to keep the ball away from New England’s speedier kick returners, though Connolly proved there’s much more to breaking a big play than being fast.
Connolly scooped the ball up and held it tight with both arms like a mother, clearly just trying to advance forward without screwing anything up. But the Packers special teams, which covered the opening kickoff so well, permitted the big gent to haul almost all the way down the field and deep into Green Bay territory. He soon switched to a one-arm tote, permitting him to really open up the throttle. omebody's getting a Ball Carrier Vision bump in Madden 12.
One great thing about being enormous while flying down the field, besides the incredible momentum: stiff-arming. Connolly flicked away one Packers coverage man as if the smaller individual was outweighed by an entire adult male human body. Which, yes, he almost was.
This was the longest kick return by an offensive lineman in NFL history, and well, yeah, of course it was. Connolly has returned a handful of kicks in his time for 35 total yards.
The Pats did not squander Connolly's speed, with Tom Brady throwing a touchdown to Aaron Hernandez shortly after.
Here’s the rest of that other update I was working on:
One of the more impressive things about Green Bay Packers QB Matt Flynn’s night tonight: he had led the Pack to a lead over the New England Patriots without even completing a pass to Green Bay’s primary offensive weapon, WR Greg Jennings. That’s all changed now, with a touchdown pass toHOLY CRAP LINEMAN KICK RETURN.

2nd Chance is given to Maurice Clarett with the UFL

Maurice Clarett, now 26, was once considered the best running back in college football, destined for greatness as a pro. Now he’s grateful just to have played a single season in the upstart United Football League.
In fact, he’s grateful just to be free.
As a college phnom, he led Ohio State to a National Championship, scoring the game-winning touchdown in a dramatic win over Miami in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. Ruled ineligible for accepting extra financial benefits, Clarett sued to enter the NFL early but lost; he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2005. But he was cut before the regular season began, and his life began to spiral out of control.
Clarett spent 3.5 years in prison, serving a sentence for concealed weapons charges and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio bar in 2006.
Now free from prison, and strengthened by the perspective of powerful life lessons, Clarett is getting a second chance as a 3rd string running back for the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks.
“Any time you have a period of that much isolation, and you reflect on your life and the decisions that brought you to the place you’re at, it’s going to do one of two things,” he said. “You’re going to stay stuck in the same place or you’re going to evaluate and figure out how to get better.”
