Aumsville Tornado: Around lunchtime on Tuesday, a tornado hit Aumsville, Marion County, Oregon, destroying buildings, causing havoc, but thankfully, no injuries, according to reports.
Police clerk Patti Etherington, told Reuters that around four or five building had been completely destroyed. A few roofs have been lifted of houses, several large trees, completely uprooted and of course many powerlines are down.
At the moment there are over 5,000 people without power, which is basically most , if not all the population of Aumsville.
A spokesperson for Northwest Natural Gas, Jenna Cooper-Gross, has said that they have a team on site inspecting the path of the tornado to check for leaks. She has given out the following advice for residents;
Don’t shut off your meter.
If you smell gas leave the building and call 911.
If you have already turned it off call 800-882-3377 to have NW Natural turn it back on.
Small roads near Aumsville and Highway 22 have also been affected, with reports of debris and fallen trees on the roads.
